Abstract

1352967 Pipe couplings KEROTEST MFG CORP 11 May 1972 [29 Dec 1971] 22199/72 Heading F2G In an electrically insulating pipe coupling to be welded at 13, 15 into a pipe-line, metallic pipe sections 12, 14 have their screw-threaded ends bonded in an insulating sleeve 16, having a metallic reinforcing sleeve 20 fitted thereon. The sleeve 16 is formed by helically winding an epoxy resin-impregnated glass fibre roving on a cylindrical mandrel. The metallic sleeve 20 is press fitted on the partially formed sleeve and a further winding 17 added. The internal screwthreads 22, 24 may be cut after the resin has hardened or they may be formed by winding the roving on to a screw-threaded mandrel. A spacer 30 is provided.
