Abstract
1350094 Alloys FURUKAWA ELECTRIC CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [12 Feb 1970] 21797/71 Heading C7A An alloy which is suitable for use in components, e.g. sliding parts, which are subject to frictional forces consists of, apart from impurities, a first mixture comprising Ni and one or more of {Fe, Mo, Co, G, Ta, Nb, W, Hf, v}; and Ti or a second mixture comprising Ti and one or both of {Al, Zr}; the first mixture being present in an amount 46À5-54À5 atom per cent, the elements {Fe, ...,V} being present in an amount 1-45 atom per cent of the first mixture, the Ti or the second mixture being present in an amount 45À5-53À5 atom per cent and {Al, Zr}, when present, being between 0À5 and 30 atom per cent of the second mixture. Such alloys have excellent resistance to seizing and wear, and also a low yield strength/rupture strength ratio. The high plasticity of these alloys enables them to be easily worked into articles of any desired shape, and many examples are given of their possible use.
