Abstract
1,231,066. Forming uniform webs. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 21 May, 1969 [29 May, 1968; 4 Oct., 1968], Nos. 25776/68 and 47223/68. Headings DIN and D1R. A fibrous web 25 having a uniform 'wt per unit area is produced by traversing air ejectors 12 reciprocatingly across an advancing collecting means 20. Continuous filament threadlines 24 are entrained by the air ejectors 12 via banding devices 15 and are deposited on the conveyor belt 20 such that y=2nx (t+z) where y is the effective width of the deposited web measured in the direction of travel of belt 20; x is the speed at which the belt 20 travels; z is the traverse time of the air ejectors 12; t is the turn around time of the air ejectors 12 and n is any positive integer. A plurality of air ejectors 12 or a plurality of groups thereof may be used provided each individual ejector or group thereof conforms to the above equation.
