Abstract
1,227,488. Hatch covers. ASSOCIATED CARGO GEAR A.B. 30 July, 1969 [7 Aug., 1968], No. 38162/69. Heading B7S. [Also in Division E2] In a three-section side-rolling hatch cover each outermost section 12, 14 is connected at its inner edge with the intermediate section 13 so that each is connected or disconnected to the intermediate section by vertical displacement of the wheels. In the closed position the intermediate section co-operates with a raised portion 31 of the coaming 11 having a height equal to the thickness of the outermost sections 12, 14. In the embodiment shown pegs 25 of intermediate section 13 engage sockets 26 of sections 12 and 14, rams 22, 23, 24 raise the wheels for movement to either side of the hatch opening and rams 30 raise the intermediate section relative to either of sections 12, 14 for movement on an outermost section to extended stowing runways 18 outside the coaming. The runways for wheels 16 of the intermediate section lie outside the runways of wheels 15 and are not continued alongside the stowing runway.
