Abstract

1,218,162. Break spinning. VYZKUMNY USTAV BAVLNARSKY. 24 Feb., 1969 [28 Feb., 1968], No. 9672/69. Heading DID. In a break-spinning process, the yarn, after leaving the spinning member passes through a zone in which the axial tension of the yarn is increased to permanently deform the yarn i.e. it is drafted. To effect the draft a braking device may be provided upstream of the withdrawing rollers. The braking device may comprise a rod about which the yarn is wrapped, a pair of notched rods 211, about which the yarn passes and by rotation of which the tension applied to the yarn can be adjusted, a helical tube 203 or a tube 201 having a serpentine bore and attached directly to the spinning chamber. In other forms the yarn may be passed in serpentine manner between two sets of rods, one set of rods being movable relative to the other to (a) adjust the tension and (b) disengage from the yarn path on breakage. The sets of rods may be relatively biassed so that on yarn breakage one set moves to operate a contact and close an electrical circuit, thus the tension device also acts as a thread breakage detection. Alternatively a separate thread feeler is provided to detect breakages. In a further form, Fig. 15 not shown, the yarn, after leaving the spinning member runs through two pairs of rollers, the second pair having a higher peripheral speed than the first pair.
