Abstract

1298370 Roller conveyers DAVY & UNITED ENG CO Ltd 21 May 1971 [11 June 1970] 28265/70 Heading B8A A roller table, particularly suitable for conveying heavy metal blooms and slabs comprises a number of rollers 1 which are supported for ready replacement. Each roller has a bearing housing 9 which is located in a slot 11 formed in a side frame member 3 and each housing 9 is secured by a pair of wedges 12 which, when removed, allow the roller 1 together with the housing 9, to be withdrawn laterally before being moved vertically. The other end of the roller is simultaneously withdrawn from its drive coupling 7 and a frame member 2. A manipulator 20 for positioning the blooms &c. is carried on beams 24 positioned between and above beams 23 which carry a manipulator 21. An additional support 25 for the manipulator 20 has hooks 28 engageable by latches 26 provided on the beams 24. To pull back the manipulators to enable the rollers 1 to be withdrawn the hooks and latches 28, 26 are engaged and the support 25, with the manipulator 20, is drawn clear of the rollers. The bearing housings at both ends of the rollers may be slidably mounted.
