Abstract

1,017,209. Advancing mine roof supports. BERGBAUSTAHL, G.m.b.H., [trading as BERGBAUSTAHL G.m.b.H. & CO.]. Aug. 22, 1963 [Aug. 22, 1962], No. 33279/63. Heading E1E. In an advancing mine roof support system, Fig. 1, wherein box-like cantilever extensions 11 are releasably secured by stirrup means to support arches 10 for selective advance and fixed attachment relative thereto, the extensions each house an actuator jack 12 and a pulley system 17, 18, 19 which together with a draw cable effects advancement of the extensions or lifting of additional frame sections 10<SP>1</SP> for positioning purposes. The stirrup means, Fig. 5, comprises two pairs of straps 22, each pair being interconnected by spacers 24 and provided with hooks 23, wedge attachment means 28, 29 and an adjusting screw 26 adapted to act on a sliding crosspiece 27, see also Fig. 4 (not shown). The cantilever may be fork-like in the direction of advance, see Fig. 13 (not shown). For mode of operation Figs. 11 and 12 (not shown) should be referred to.
