Abstract
1345448 Pilger rolling mills MANNESMAN-MEER AG 12 May 1971 [17 July 1970] 14557/71 Heading B3M Feeding apparatus for a cold pilger rolling mill 1 comprises a pusher 9 for pushing a billet 4 on to a supporting mandrel 3, a mandrel clamp 7, a billet clamping slide 7, and a roller-straightener 10 located between the pusher and clamp. A billet 2 which has already been fed on to the mandrel is shown being rolled. The billet is led on to the mandrel after opening the clamp 7, and is then pushed by a slide 11 towards the mill. In a second embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown), which is suitable for continuous operation, two mandrel clamps are provided, one holding the mandrel at any given time. Two alternately operable billet feeding chucks are also used.
