Abstract

1295026 Razors GILLETTE CO 19 April 1971 [8 April 1970] 25063/71 Heading B4B A razor head comprises a cap member 6 pivotally mounted on a frame 2 and arranged to be releasably retained in a position overlying the frame by means of a chuck device 50 and an actuator 30 for disengaging the chuck from the cap member. The cap member is provided with a pin 8 having a head 10 which, when the cap is closed, is engaged by balls 14 mounted in carrier 12. The carrier 12 is guided within a clutch shell 16 having converging walls 20 and a flange 44 engaged by a spring 48. In order to release the cap member, the actuator 30 is pressed which initially causes a hook portion 32 thereon to engage the clutch shell so as to lift it against the action of the spring 48; continued movement of the actuator then causes a cam surface 54 thereon to engage a pin 28 on the carrier, thereby moving the latter downwardly so that the balls 14 move away from the converging walls and.so release the pin 8. At this point a latch pin 22 is biased upwardly by a spring 24 to engage the pin 8 and thereby move the cap to a released position shown in Fig. 6. A blade guard 40 is provided and can be raised and lowered to vary the coarseness of the cut by means of a rotatable nut 34.
