Abstract
1306631 Razors GILLETTE CO 3 May 1971 [10 July 1970] 12758/71 Heading B4B A razor comprises a head portion 2 rigid with a handle 40, a cap 6 pivotally connected to the head and adapted to be held in a closed position by means of a hook-and-catch device 10 releasable by means of an actuator 26 and a guard 50 adjustable in relation to the cap by means of a screwed rod-and-nut device 42, 44, 46 located on the handle. The hook-and-catch device 10 includes a hook member 14 having a pin 16 pivoted in grooves 18 formed in the head 2 and adapted in the closed position of the cap shown in Fig. 2 to engage a catch 8 thereon. In closing the cap the pivot pin 16 is moved downwardly against the action of a spring 20. To release the cap, the actuator 26 is depressed thereby moving a lever 30 which, via a cam surface 22 thereon causes the catch 8 to be released from the hook under the action of the spring. The blade guard 50 is connected to a forked link 48 connected to the rod 46 so that upon rotation of a plug 42 a threaded sleeve 44 on the rod is rotated thereby causing the guard to move in relation to the closed cap and so vary the coarseness of the cut.
