Abstract

1523377 Razors GILLETTE CO 11 May 1976 [12 May 1975 (2)] 19359/76 Heading B4B A razor handle for receiving a detachable razor blade assembly 5, the handle comprising movable arm portions 12, 14 having pivot mounting means 16, 18 for a blade assembly and cam follower means 60 for engaging a cam 142 in the assembly and applying a biasing force to the assembly when the latter is mounted in the handle. The handle includes a part 30 having a platform 38 provided with pivots 36, 37 for the arms 12, 14 and a cover portion 40. The cam follower 60<SP>1</SP> is formed on a slidable member 20 associated with a pusher member 24 having a pair of slots 17, 19 for a pivoted locking member 22. The razor blade assembly 5 is formed with a pair of lugs 140, 144 having bores (141, 145) Fig. 6 (not shown) for co-operation with the pivots 16, 18. In use, in order to fit a razor blade assembly to the handle, the pusher member is pressed inwardly, thereby compressing a spring 42 until projections 52, 54 on the locking member engage with respective notches on the handle portion 40 thereby retaining the arms in an open position, Fig. 4 (not shown). A blade assembly is then moved to cause the cam 142 to engage the follower 60 thereby causing the member 20 move and disengage the locking member. The arms then move together until the pivots engage with the bores (141, 145). The cam 142 is shaped such as to allow the blade assembly to pivot either side of a mean position under the biasing force of the spring 42.
