Abstract

1291541 Counterweight arrangements for slewing jib cranes SCHWERMASCHINENBAU GEORGI DIMITROFF VEB 31 March 1971 8324/71 Heading B8B A mobile slewing jib crane in the transport position, Fig. 1 (not shown), tows its counterweight 2 on a trailer 3. To render the crane operational the counterweight 2 is deposited on an inclined plane surface 5 on the chassis 1 using the jib 4. The surface 5 has a stop 6 to ensure that the counterweight always adopts the same position thereon. The slewing superstructure 7 is now rotated 180 degrees to locate an extendible girder 8 opposite the counterweight 2. The girder 8 has two longitudinal beams 9 interconnected by an end beam 10. Each beam 9 is mounted by means of rollers 11, 12 on the superstructure 7, one end of each beam 9 has an inclined trackway 13 so shaped that in its fully extended state the girder 8 is inclined at the same angle as that of the surface 5, while in the retracted state it is horizontal. As shown extended the end beam 10 lies against the counterweight 2 and may be attached thereto by pivot pins passed through holes 14 in the girder 8 and bores in eyelets 15 on the counterweight 2. The counterweight 2 is pressed against the girder 8 at the bottom contact surface 17 by gravity. An hydraulic device 18 effects the movement of the girder 8 which may be locked in various positions to vary the moment of the counterweight 2.
