Abstract
1285598 Coaxial connectors BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd 13 Nov 1970 [13 Nov 1969] 55685/69 Addition to 1133266 Heading H2E [Also in Division H1] A coaxial connector has a socket part 11 comprising a copper body 6 which has a hole at one end into which power conductor 2 is sweated and which has a bore machined in its opposite end to form a central socket 7. A longitudinally split copper sleeve 8 is radially spaced from the body 6 and extends beyond it at one end, and at the other end is connected to the outer conductor 4 by a soldered binding 9 of wire. Body 6 and sleeve 8 are embedded in a moulded body 10 of P.V.C. which is bonded to insulation 3 and sheath 5 of cable 1. A part of the internal surface of sleeve 8 at its free end is exposed and constitutes the outer neutral socket contact. Plug part 12 comprises a copper body 13 sweated to the end of conductor 22, body 13 being longitudinally slotted along part of its length at its free end in two intersecting radial planes to form a resilient plug 14. Copper tube 15 radially spaced from and extending over the length of body 13 is connected at one end to the outer conductor 24 by a soldered binding 16 of wire. Body 13 and tube 15 are embedded in a moulded body 17 of P.V.C. which is bonded to insulation 23 and sheath 25 of cable 21. Body 17 has an integral shroud 18 which has an inwardly circumferentially extending rib 19 which makes a snap fitting in a circumferential groove 20 in the body 10.
