A demountable connection for electric cables comprises a conductive stud abutting a contact member on the end of the conductor of a cable, an insulating sleeve surrounding them and a deformable insulating tube urged, by axial force, into close contact with the contact member, the surface of the sleeve and the insulation of the conductor. As shown, conductors 6 of two coaxial cables 1, 2 having braided sheaths 4 and insulating layers 5 are inserted and clamped in contact members 9, 10 abutting male and female parts 11, 12 of a contact stud disposed within a body portion 25 which also contains an insulating sleeve 14 and deformable insulating tubes 15, 16. Threaded cups 21, 22 mounted on the ends of the body 25 apply pressure to bushes 19, 20 to damp the splayed sheath 4 against pierced cups 17, 18 and compress the insulating tubes 15, 16 so that their surfaces are in close contact with the contacts 9, 10, the insulating layer 5 and the insulating sleeve 14. The connection is mounted through a bulkhead 28 and gaskets 33, 34 provide a seal. The connector may be in two parts and used at the termination of a cable or at the junction of two or more cables.
