Abstract

[Also in Division C7] A molten alloy containing 8.2 to 20% by weight of copper, the balance being aluminium, is atomized into pellets of such a size that at at least 50% are capable of passing through a No. 20 mesh screen, and the pellets are then compacted into a desired shape by hot working, followed by solution treatment, quenching and ageing. Compaction may be effected by extrusion within the range 600-850 F., the pellets being preheated to a temperature within the range 700-900 F.
