Abstract

1,124,430. Piston-rings. CROSS MFG. CO. (1938) Ltd. 24 July, 1967 [7 Oct., 1966], No. 44841/66. Heading F2T. A piston-and-ring assembly comprises an L- section split metal ring having one limb 5 housed in a groove 4 in the piston 1 and the other limb curved so as to be externally concave with its free end 7, which in use contacts the cylinder wall 8, being on a larger diameter than the junction between the limbs when the ring is unstressed. The ring acts as a bearing ring and a scraper ring.
