Abstract

1,132,508. Piston packing. CROSS MFG. CO. (1938) Ltd. 24 July, 1967 [7 Oct., 1966], No. 44840/66. Heading F2T. A piston and piston-ring assembly comprises an inspringing split-ring 3 and an outspringing split-ring 4 fitting together in a piston groove 5, the rings being in mutual engagement on surfaces normal to the piston axis and the contact faces between the rings and the sides 6, 7 of the groove being inclined to a plane normal to the piston axis whereby the ring 3 urges the ring 4 axially against the groove side 7 and outwardly against the cylinder wall 8.
