Abstract
1,119,201. Washing bottles &c. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP. 14 Jan., 1965 [15 Oct., 1963], No. 40688/63. Heading B8T. In an apparatus for sterilizing a bottle, saturated steam under pressure enters a sealed container 2, housing the bottle 1, by an inlet valve A and escapes through an outlet valve B after passing through a steam-ejector device 4, during which time the outside of the bottle is preheated and the steam-ejector device 4 maintains a vacuum, via a duct 5, within the bottle whose interior is sealed to steam. The valve B is now closed and steam introduced into the bottle through the device 4 and the duct 5 to sterilize the inside thereof, and condensate is formed therein. The steam supply to the bottle interior is then shut off by reopening the valve B, and again the bottle outside is heated and a vacuum is created in the bottle. Thus the condensate boils off. Finally, the valve A is closed and steam escapes through the valve B.
