Abstract

A telescopic ladder is provided on the upper ladder section with a spring-pressed pivoted lach 4 to engage one of the rungs B of the lower ladder section. A gravity balanced member 7 pivoted on the latch 4 closes the mouth of the latch and prevents it from engaging a rung when the upper section is being lowered.
