Abstract

1,113,385. Coaxial connectors. UNITEDCARR Inc. 17 Oct., 1966 [21 Oct., 1965], No. 46354/66. Heading H2E. A coaxial plug connector comprises a tubular conductive body 18 having a cavity at one end to receive a conductive collet 40 and a gasket 56 at the end of a flexible boot 53, the gasket 56 entering a groove 52 in the collet 40. The collet has its shank slit to form fingers 50 and is internally threaded to screw on to a threaded portion 44 of the cable outer conductor. In assembling the connector, a bushing 38 of P.T.F.E. is placed over the inner conductor 42 of the cable and a contact pin 32 secured to the conductor 42. The collet 40 and boot 53 are fitted to the cable and the assembly is inserted into the connector body 18 until the collet 40 abuts an apertured web 20 in the body and the contact pin 32 protrudes through a plastics insert 9 in the other side of the body 18. A locking ring 58 secures the assembly, flats 48 being provided in the collet 40 and in the body 18 to prevent relative rotation. A sleeve 12 is retained on the connector by a C-ring 28 located in grooves 16, 24.
