Abstract

1,159,004. Granulated NPK fertilizer. FISONS FERTILIZERS Ltd. 15 May, 1967 [19 April, 1966], No. 17020/66. Heading C1B. A granular NPK fertilizer is produced by spraying an ammonium nitrate/phosphate melt containing 0-5% of water at 120-200‹ C. on to a potash bed which has been preheated to 120-125‹ C. and which is agitated in a rotating drum through which hot air at 190-220‹ C. is passed. The granules and air may leave the drum at 50-110‹ C. and 100-120‹ C. respectively. The potash may be in the form of potassium chloride, sulphate or carbonate and may contain recycled material. The ratio of recycled material to granular material of desired particle size may be 3-4 : 1. The ammonium phosphate may have an N : P ratio of 0À9-2 1. The ammonium nitrate/phosphate may have an N : P 2 O 5 ratio of 1 : 0À1-2. The granular product may be blended with granular monoammonium phosphate, ammonium phosphate/nitrate or ammonium sulphate/nitrate.
