Abstract
1,183,938. Prilled fertilizers. FISONS FERTILIZERS Ltd. 6 Oct., 1967 [21 Sept., 1966], No. 42061/66. Heading C1B. A fertilizer material containing ammonium nitrate and/or urea is prilled in the presence of suspended and/or fluidized dust containing potassium chloride, more than 50% (based on material) of potassium chloride, thereby being absorbed in the prills. The material may also contain ammonium sulphate, monoammonium phosphate, diammonium phosphate, potassium phosphate, potassium nitrate, sodium nitrate; magnesium nitrate, magnesium carbonate, or magnesium oxide. The dust may also contain limestone, sand, mica, bentonite, gypsum, talc, clay, cement, earth, or polyethylene. The suspending and/or fluidizing medium may be air or nitrogen. The suspended dust may be evolved from a fluidized bed or may be separately introduced above a fluidized bed. The material may be sprayed down a tower in countercurrent to gas which has a velocity of 1À2-4 ft./sec. and contains up to 11b./cu. ft. of dust. The dust may have a particle size of less than 100 BS. The prills may have a particle size of 3 mm..
