Abstract
1,263,719. Granular fertilizers. FISONS Ltd. 25 Aug., 1969 [14 Sept., 1968; 24 Dec., 1968], Nos. 43850/68 and 61338/68. Heading C1B. A granular fertilizer is prepared by tumbling or agitating (e.g. in a rotary drum) a mixture containing ammonium phosphate, urea and a potassium salt such as KCl or K 2 SO 4 , at an elevated temperature and in the presence of 0À5 to 5% by weight of water, and subsequently drying the granules, the conditions of drying being such that the temperature of the granules does not exceed 90‹ C. The ammonium phosphate may be formed in situ by the neutralization of phosphoric acid with ammonia. Optional ingredients are steam, water and/or ammonia before or during mixing, water and/or steam during granulation, recycle material and other fertilizer ingredients such as rock phosphate, limestone, superphosphate, potassium nitrate trace elements and fillers.
