Abstract
1,147,225. Glow plugs. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. April 26, 1966[May 6, 1965], No.18111/66. Heading F1B. In a glow plug the connecting stud 6 is tightly sealed against the housing bore 3 and electrically insulated by a seal formed of a portion of tube 10 of oil resistant resilient material surrounding the stud and compressed in the plug housing beneath an insulating disc 9 fitted between a nut 8 screwed on to the stud and the seal and pressed by the nut against the end face 7 of the housing. In a modification the housing contains a thin walled annular chamber and the thin wall is reduced in diameter to radially compress the resilient tube portion. The tube 10 may be of silicone rubber.
