Abstract
876,300. Glow plugs. BOSCH G.m.b.H., ROBERT. Oct. 30, 1959 [Nov. 13, 1958], No. 36840/59. Class 7(4). A glow plug for internal combustion engines comprises an electrode 3 arranged in a metal casing 4 and insulated therefrom by a layer of ceramic material 6 applied, e.g. by spraying, to the outer surface of the electrode. As shown, the outer surface of an inner electrode 2 is similarly coated with ceramic material. A glow wire 5 is fitted to electrodes 2, 3. The faces of the ceramic layers 6, at which a gas-tight seal is necessary are provided with a layer 7 of a softer material such as talcum powder which fills in any irregularities in the ceramic surface. The sealing surfaces may be conical instead of cylindrical in shape.
