Abstract

1,009,249. Two-part couplings; plug boards. AMP Inc. Sept. 25, 1964 [Oct. 7, 1963], No. 39076/64. Heading H2E. A socket connector for a plug board contact panel comprises contact blades 1, e.g. of brass or bronze, mounted in slots 20 of a housing 19 and locking means 8 to secure hinged wing portions 9 of the housing about the rear parts of the contacts. The contact blades 1 are held in the housing 19, which is of plastics material, such as nylon, propylene, by the co-operation of lugs 6 on the rear parts of the contacts with slots 23<SP>1</SP> in the housing and the engagement of the rear part of the housing with crimped connections 4 on the contacts. The socket connector is secured in a plug-board contact panel by resilient tags 24 on a spring member 22<SP>1</SP>, which abut a shoulder in the panel, and flange 17 on the housing. The contact blades can be formed with contact points (Fig. 10, not shown), to perform switching functions when a plug is inserted into the connector, one of the blades being insulated at 2.
