Abstract

1,109,970. Two-part couplings; plugboards. AMP Inc. 11 Oct., 1966 [14 Oct., 1965], No. 45287/66. Heading H2E. An insulating tubular housing H is releasably mounted in an aperture in a jack panel P to receive a pair of mating electrical connectors 14, 15. The housing H, preferably of nylon or propylene has an end flange 6 to abut the panel P, which may be of aluminium, and is longitudinally slotted to provide resiliently flexible strips 8 having external projections 9 to latch against the panel P, and other strips 11 terminating in projections 12 to latch behind a ridge 17<SP>1</SP> in a coaxial plug 15. Each coaxial receptacle 14 carries a split collar 18 having resilient tongues 19 to latch behind a lip 4 at the other end of the housing H. Alternatively, the collar 18 may be located between the ridges 17, 17<SP>1</SP> on the plug member and the plug and receptacle elements interchanged. The housings H may be arranged in pairs in the panel P (Fig. 2, not shown), so that receptacles latched in the housings may be connected one with the other of a pair, or in pairs to other pairs by coaxial double plugs (15).
