Abstract

1379573 Caps for bottles METAL CLOSURES Ltd 10 March 1972 [15 March 1971] 6888/71 Heading B8T A blank for a capsule closure for a bottle comprises a top 1 lined with gasket material, a skirt 2, and an outwardly curled bead 3 which is knurled. A narrow band of knurling 7 is also formed immediately below the corner 6, and in conjunction with the knurling on the bead 3, facilitates the removing of the closure. The lining of gasket material 4 also forms a thickened annulus 5 inside the corner 6 between the top 1 and the skirt 2. The closure blank is applied to the bottle, and has screw threads formed on the skirt 11 in situ by a process such as that disclosed in Specification 975,739.
