Abstract
1,098,324. Retractive switches. LUCERNE PRODUCTS Inc. March 12, 1965 [March 31, 1964], No. 10532/65. Heading H2B. As a bridging contact 27 is moved to interconnect contacts 19, 20, its leading end 27a is lifted by a projection 29 of an insulating wall 13b mounting the contacts 19, 20, and on further movement the end 27a drops on to contact 20 as the projection 29 enters a central recess (27d) of bridging contact 27 (Fig. 6, not shown). A spring 28 presses contact 27 against contacts 19, 20 which are held in grooves of an insulating holder 13 riveted at 16<SP>1</SP> to switch casing 12. A switch actuator 16 is slidable along the upper surface of holder 13 in casing 12 to move one or more bridging contacts 27, (27), (Fig. 8, not shown), a spring 32 making actuator 16 normally retractive. A latching plunger (30) is provided (Figs. 1-4, not shown). The projection 29 and the shape of recess (27d) are designed to reduce contact " bounce ". Leading end 27a of contact 27 slides on contact 20 after its engagement therewith. Trailing end of contact 27 makes sliding engagement with contact 19 before the leading end 27a drops into contact with contact 20.
