Abstract
1,019,441. Actuation of switches. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. Oct. 14, 1964 [Oct. 15, 1963], No. 40568/63. Heading H2B. A switch includes a pushbutton 13 on an arm 12 slidable in casing 10 and biased outwardly by a spring 18, Fig. 1 (not shown), and a block 16 in casing 10 slidable transversely to the direction of movement of arm 12 and biased to one side by spring 24. A spring-loaded pin 21 is mounted in a blind bore 20, Fig. 1 (not shown), so that it can be depressed to be wholly within the bore. A groove 28 comprising three arms 28a, 28b, 28c is provided in block 16. The base of arm 28c slopes to provide a ramp. In the " off " position, pin 21 is located in groove 28, as shown in Fig. 2. When push 13 is depressed, pin 21 slides down arm 28a (the end of the ramp prevents it sliding down arm 28c) moving block 16 forwards till pin 21 reaches the end of arm 28a when spring 24 urges block 16 backwards so that pin 21 enters arm 28b and when push 13 is released, pin 21 enters the " U " of arm 28b where it remains, this being the " on " position of the switch. If push 13 is again depressed pin 21 moves inwardly, spring 24 again urges block 16 backwards and when push 13 is released pin 21 travels down arm 28c, down the ramp and over the end to its initial position. A contact plate 31 intended to carry moving contacts (not shown) is spring loaded on an extension 27 of block 16.
