[Also in Division F4] In a method of making finned pipes for heat exchangers, a relatively deep, but narrow, cut, inclined to the axis of the pipe, is made in the pipe wall and the portion of the wall 3 bounded by the cut is bent outwardly to form the fin 4. The cut may be circumferential or it may be a single or multiple helix.
