Abstract
1,058,559. Making finned tubes; stamping; shearing. MASCHINEN-UND APPARATEBAU VEB. Jan. 27, 1965, No. 3483/65. Headings B3A, B3Q and B3W. In a method of producing finned tubes for heat exchangers in which a metal strip is helically wound round a tube, the end of the strip is gripped so as to prevent axial or radial shifting thereof (Fig. 8, not shown). The ends of the strip are secured by the deformation of at least the end two coils at either end of the tube. The deformation comprises U- shaped recess 25, which by stretching the periphery of the turns of metal, increases the grip on the tube. Simultaneously, with the formation of the recess a knife (27) (Figs. 6, 7, not shown), forms an incision and turns over one corner 31.
