Abstract

1,090,015. Slings for enabling loads to be lifted electromagnetically. JOHN J. McMULLEN ASSOCIATES Inc. Aug. 26, 1966 [Aug. 27, 1965], No. 38432/66. Heading B8H. So that a load 10, Fig. 1, may be lifted by an electromagnet 18, a metal plate 12, preferably of cast steel, is attached to the load by straps 16 of steel or webbing. The straps, instead of being attached to the plate as shown, may pass through transverse slots in the projections on the plate 12 or lie in transverse grooves. In a second embodiment, Fig. 8, a box 40 has metallic channels 42 recessed into its upper surface for magnetic attraction by a magnet of complementary shape.
