870,578. Load-engaging devices for lifting. COATES, A. R. Feb. 17, 1960 [Nov. 18, 1958], No. 36989/58. Class 78 (4). A plate 1 has a slot 2, which receives a crane hook, and bores 3, which may be upwardly and laterally extended as slots to the edge of the plate, , for accommodating shackle-pins. A further shackle-pin hole may be provided midway between the bores 3. The bores or closed ends of the slots 3 may be screwthreaded. The thickness of the plate and the sizes of the holes are shackles chosen to prevent the plate and crane-hook being overloaded.
