Abstract

1431042 Slings FISONS Ltd 4 April 1973 [7 Feb 1972] 39224/75 Divided out of 1431041 Heading B8H A unitary load comprises a pair of stacks of articles which are encompassed by a sling, the latter comprising a closed loop of material in which a secondary loop 4 is formed which passes between the two article stacks. An annular member 2, Fig. 4, has a cross-member 3 about which the top of the secondary loop 4 passes, part of the remainder of the closed loop being formed into two indented portions 6, 7 which are passed through the aperture formed on each side of the cross-member 3 while a pin 8, 9 is inserted into the respective indented portion 6, 7 to prevent the said indented portions of the closed loop from unthreading from the apertures. The unitary load is lifted by means of a lifting loop 10 which causes the closed loop to be drawn tightly around the stacks of articles. The annular member 2 may alternatively be of circular or oval shape. The sling may be attached to a pallet (11), Fig. 5 (not shown), on which the two stacks of articles are initially stacked.
