A tufted carpet has applied to the back thereof, by the method of Specification 926,651, i.e. with the aid of a heated plastisol of PVC or PVC copolymer, a sheet other than of foamed synthetic plastic or foamed rubber, preferably of felt, paper or a felt-paper combination. The plastisol may be applied to the carpet back itself or to a pre-applied coating of PVC or copolymer thereon.
