Abstract

1,061,691. Baling machines. MASCHINENFABRIK FAHR A.G. Dec. 16, 1963 [Dec. 27, 1962], No. 49559/63. Heading B5F. In a hay baler or the like, a bale tying needle 8, carried by a support member 7 pivoted at 9, is reciprocated through the bale chamber 19 by means of a crank-operated driving-rod 5 acting through a plate 6 attached to said member 7. In the event of the driving-rod fracturing the needle moves under the influence of gravity to the withdrawn position shown in the Figure and is retained therein by a roller 13 which engages the curved surface 18 of a cam 10 carried by member 7. The roller is carried by a lever 11 which is pivoted at 12, and is forced against the cam surface by a spring 15 attached to the free end of the lever.
