Abstract

1,060,320. Fluid actuation of switches; thermal switches. WILCOLATOR CO. April 29, 1965 [June 3, 1964], No. 18182/65. Heading H2B. The operating. member 25 and the diaphragm 33 of a fluid pressure actuated electric switch 10 are maintained in precise relative positions in spite of alterations in dimensions of the casing 11 or diaphragm 33 due to temperature changes or shrinkage of the casing by a resilient clamp. Insulating. casing 11 has a bearing surface 41 and a shoulder 12. Snap-acting diaphragm 33 is welded to a rigid metal cover 31 having flanges 31c and is seated on bearing surface 41. Resilient clamp 45 fits over casing 11 with its inner edges on shoulder 12 and its outer edges clipped by integral tabs 45a on to flanges 31c. Cover 31 has a central aperture 36 and is connected to a capillary tube 37 which may form part of a closed system containing a thermally expansive liquid such as mercury.
