Abstract

1,048,360. Floor cleaning machines. ELECTROLUX Ltd. Oct. 15, 1965. No. 43821/65. Heading A4F. Each brush 11 or 12 of a floor polishing machine is detachably mounted on a drive gear 30 or 31 and is angularly movable relatively to the latter for polishing surfaces that are not level, and such angular movement is limited by the interposition of a resilient ring 49 between the brush back 41 and the pinion 30 or 31. The pinion 30 or 31 has dependent resilient fingers 46 engaging a central opening 43 in the brush back 41, and a spherical surface 42 on the pinion engages a corresponding concave spherical surface on the brush back 41 to permit the relative angular movement. A fan 61 (Fig. 3, not shown) drives cooling air through the driving motor 15 and discharges it downwardly to prevent ingress of foreign matter into the space containing the pinions 30, 31.
