Abstract
1,045,690. Pipe couplings. ALVENIUS INDUSTRIER A.B. Nov. 5, 1963, No. 43579/63. Heading F2G. A pipe coupling comprises a pair of spaced apart pipes 4, 5, a coupling ring 1 surrounding the ends of the pipes and preferably being divided along an axial plane into two halves and a sealing ring 8 of rubber or like resilient material being of such a shape that it fills the space between the pipe ends in its compressed state and is characterized in that the coupling ring has its inner side provided with an annular projection 11 preferably in the form of a ridge having a very obtuse apex angle which is to be positioned opposite the opening 12 between the pipe ends. The sealing ring 8 may have its inner side formed with a flange fitting between the pipe ends or may have a ridge in its inner side, the apex of which is situated between the pipe ends. The ridge 11, of a width substantially equal to the sealing ring, presses the inner surface of the ring 8 into the space between the pipes.
