Abstract

1,044,205. Making moulded polyamide articles. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA FABRIK A.G. July 31, 1963 [Aug. 3, 1962], No. 30297/63. Heading B5A. Lactams with alkaline catalysts, and activators are polymerized in a mould, rotated at such a speed that the centrifugal acceleration is less than that due to gravity. Pipes or rollers which may be reinforced with glass fabric are made in aluminium moulds. Fillers, e.g. aluminium, copper or quartz powder, ground shale, sand, diatomaceous earth, polyamides and other plastics, delustering agents, e.g. titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, and lubricants, e.g. graphite, lead powder, and molybdenum sulphide, may be added. Multilayer articles may be made by introducing the materials successively. The mould is preheated to between 80‹ and 200‹ C.
