Abstract

1,040,197. Conical mills; disc mills. J.M.VOITH G.m.b.H. April 12,1965 [April 11, 1964], No. 15581/65. Heading B2A. A mill for the preparation of fibrous substances comprises disc-shaped members 6, 7 splined to a rotary shaft 4 and carrying refining elements 8 which cooperate with stationery refining elements 11, the elements 8 being displaceable away from each other by means of compressed air or mechanically. Compressed air is supplied via a connection piece 19, a bore 20 and channels 21 to a chamber 22 which is sealed from the refining chamber 17 by means of a bellows 23 and from the shaft 4 by means of annular roller diaphragms 25. Springs 26 bias the members 6, 7 towards each other. The elements 8, 11 are each provided with segments. In modifications, the invention is applicable to (a) a double conical mill and (b) a double twin disc mill.
