Ebenso ist es aber auch möglich, das Gewebe selbst in diesem Bereich reißbar auszuführen. Das Ausführungsbeispiel in Fig. 1 zeigt den vorderen Teil eines Personenkraftwagens 1 mit zwei eingezeichneten Vordersitzen 4 und einer zweiteiligen Sitzbank 5 im hinteren Fahrzeugbereich. Seitlich treten aus den beiden Fahrer- und Beifahrersitzen 4 Seitenairbags 2 und 3 hervor, die im aufgeblasenen Zustand dargestellt sind, wobei diese sich allerdings innerhalb der Karosserie aufblasen. Nur aus vereinfachten Darstellungsgründen sei angenommen, daß die Karosserieteile entfernt sind. Im nichtaufgeblasenen Zustand sind die Airbags 2 und 3 in dem Seitenpolster 13 der Rückenlehne 6 (Fig. 2, Fig. 4) in einer Kammer 16 gelagert. Im Falle eines Crashes wirkt ein nicht dargestelltes Steuersystem, das durch den Aufblasmechanismus des Airbags ausgelöst wird, so daß dieser durch die spaltförmige Öffnung 15, die durch einen absprengbaren Verschluß abgedeckt sein kann, seitlich austritt und dabei die aus Fig. 3 ersichtliche Ausdehnung annimmt. Der Autositz gemäß Fig. 2 besteht darüber hinaus aus einem Sitzteil 7 und einer Kopfstütze 8. Über den so gebildeten Autositz ist ein Schonbezug 14 a,b, c über die Rückenlehne 6 gespannt, und zwar von oben nach unten aufgezogen. Die Besonderheit besteht darin, daß im Seitenbereich 14c ein Einsatzteil 10 vorgesehen ist, das beispielsweise über ein Flächenreißverschlußband (Klettband) 11 an dem Seitenteil 14c des Schonbezuges gehalten ist. Die Verbindung ist derart, daß im Falle des Aufblasens des Airbags 3 und beim Austritt durch die spaltförmige Öffnung 15 dieser Einsatz förmlich weggesprengt wird oder zumindest einseitig die Verbindung aufreißt, so daß der sich aufblasende Airbag sich ungehindert ausdehnen kann. Wäre dieser lappenförmige Einsatz nicht vorhanden und in klassischer Form der Schonbezug einteilig ausgebildet, so könnte der Airbag seine Schutzfunktion nicht entfalten, sondern würde sich lediglich zwischen Schonbezug und Oberfläche der Rückenlehne des Sitzes 4 ausdehnen, was nicht gewünscht ist. In Fig. 2 ist eine weitere Variante dargestellt, und zwar ein Spalt 12 im Randbereich des Sit&zgr;teils 7 unmittelbar oberhalb der Seitenfläche 14.
