Description Learning aid adapter for children's bicycles

State of the art:

I am not aware of any commercially available design that solves the problem (see below).

Problem:

Learning to ride a bike without training wheels usually involves a few serious falls for children and uncomfortable walking bent over next to the child's bike for parents, which is only possible up to a very limited speed in this position. The fact that training wheels encourage a false sense of balance makes training wheels as a whole questionable. In order to learn to ride safely and to enable parents to walk or run upright while holding the bike securely, a special holding device is required.

Solution:

The invention belongs to the field of bicycle accessories and is essentially a special adapter.

This adapter creates a rigid connection to a standard handlebar in the tilting direction of the bicycle and is attached to the frame below the saddle. There are various versions of the adapter that meet the various design features of the bicycle frames in this area.

It is very helpful for parents and children at the time when the child is learning to ride a bike without training wheels. During this stage, parents usually walk beside the bike, crouched down, holding the bike by the saddle or luggage rack. When the child becomes more confident and therefore faster, they have to let go and the child often falls because of their continued insecurity.

The adapter and the associated support bar now offer the following advantages:

Parents can walk upright next to the child and keep them safe Parents can adjust to the speeds possible Serious falls of the child on the road are largely avoided The bike can be easily guided/pushed without a child Support wheels and thus incorrect balancing can be completely dispensed with

The adapter consists of a cuboid-shaped aluminum block (1a-1), which has both an attachment option to the bicycle frame and a standardized mount for a handlebar.

The prototype creates the connection between a wheel with a standard 6mm hole for a rear wheel rim brake (or similar accessory) and a push or grab bar of the popular children's slide car "BobbyCar". The prototype has a 6mm stud bolt (1a-4) on one side and is screwed firmly to the frame with a self-locking nut. A 12mm hole perpendicular to this fits exactly into the plastic holder of the grab bar (1a-2) and can be attached in no time at all with a suitable machine screw (1a-3) + also a self-locking nut. The bar has a handle and can be varied in length or swiveled vertically (1b-2); the bike can now be held upright easily and safely.

Variant 2b

Variant 2b connects the bike to any bar that is approximately 22mm thick and is screwed to the seat post/bike frame using a universal clamping device.

This variant was not drawn and is a necessary result of the above 3 variants.
