Abstract

The invention relates to a device for moving a person from a first position into an at least second position. The device comprises a base part (1) which is located on the floor and a rotating part (2) which is fixed to said base part (1) in such a way that the former can rotate. Said rotating part comprises at least one first holding part (16), which is located essentially vertically in relation to the rotating part (2) and which is used to temporarily hold a person. The aim of the invention is to provide a simple, rapid device which can be adapted to the respective structural conditions while being highly resistant to tipping and which is as compact as possible. To this end, an essentially flat pivoting part (3) is provided. Said pivoting part is located radially externally in relation to the rotating part (2) and can pivot essentially in the plane of rotation of the rotating part (2).

Device for transferring in particular physically disabled persons

Description

The invention relates to a device for moving a person from a first position into at least a second position, having a base part arranged on the floor and a rotating part arranged rotatably on the base part with at least one first holding part arranged substantially perpendicular to the rotating part for temporarily holding the person.

It is known that physically disabled persons who rely on nursing staff when transferring from a first position, e.g. from a wheelchair, to a second position, e.g. onto a toilet, a bed, a motor vehicle or the like (or vice versa)

are dependent on mechanical lifting and/or transfer devices. This means that such a person can be transferred by just one carer and the carer is also relieved of physical strain by such a device.

On the one hand, lifting devices are known that are primarily suitable for severely disabled people who cannot be expected to do much physical activity or no physical activity at all. Such devices require a lot of effort to operate and therefore also time for such a transfer process. These devices are also technically complex and are clearly over-qualified for the primary application area underlying the present invention for disabled people who can certainly stand up and sit down independently to a certain extent.

In addition, devices are known in which the disabled person is moved from the first position, usually the wheelchair position, to the second position, e.g. the toilet position, by means of a rotary lifting device or by means of a turntable, i.e. via a horizontally performed rotary movement. The second position is usually one of several possible positions, for example in the case of a piece of seating furniture arranged in the immediate vicinity of a bed. A device for supporting standing and other postures of physically handicapped people is known from DE 197 24 770 C 1. The device has a device body mounted on a base plate, on which a relatively small seat is arranged radially on the outside of a seat post, whereby a physically handicapped person sitting on this seat is held fixed to the device body by means of a foot fixation, knee pads and a thorax pad. Handrails are also provided so that the required starting position for the respective therapy can be assumed independently. A coupling for the wheelchair is provided radially on the outside of the seat post. Before use, the wheelchair and the device are mechanically connected by means of the coupling. With the help of the handrails, the disabled person pulls himself onto the seat with his own strength and stands up - according to his physical capabilities - using the foot fixation and the pads for security and support. This known device is used in particular to support the therapy efforts of a disabled person confined to a wheelchair. The entire device body can be rotated using transport rollers attached to the base plate, which means that the device requires a relatively large free space to stand and maneuver. In addition, the device is only

not very flexible with regard to adaptation to local conditions.

Furthermore, a device for raising people from a sitting to an upright position is known from DE 196 47 498 A 1. The device has a frame and a footrest arranged thereon, on which a lifting device with a cable pull and a belt is arranged. The footrest and the lifting device arranged thereon are arranged so that they can rotate relative to the frame by means of a rotary drive with a handwheel and a pinion. This device is particularly aimed at ensuring that no third person is required when moving a person and is therefore aimed exclusively at people in need of care who cannot stand up on their own, but can independently operate the lifting mechanism and drive control described therein.

A transfer aid with a turntable is described, for example, in DE 199 04 669 A 1. A stand element that can be pivoted using hinges is arranged on the turntable. The transfer aid has a recess on one side in particular to accommodate the knee area of a helper or a caregiver. On the opposite side, two recesses, each offset to the outside, are provided to accommodate the knees of the person being transferred. The person being transferred can thus be moved from

from a first position to a second position. However, specially trained personnel are required to operate this transfer aid.

In addition, EP 0 633 010 Bl discloses a rotating plate as a seat for physically disabled people. However, this only serves to rotate a disabled person in a sitting position for transfer purposes, but does not enable a wheelchair-bound person to stand upright.

One disadvantage of the devices mentioned is that the disabled person feels unsafe when turning. Another disadvantage is that the person being transferred usually feels unsafe when getting on and off, not least because of the low tipping safety of these devices, especially along the direction of getting on and off. In addition, the caregiver is required to have special training or even to make a high level of physical effort that is not good for their health and could cause back injuries, for example.

In addition, most of the known devices require a relatively large amount of space to achieve the required tipping safety, in particular during the aforementioned transfer process and the rotational movement of the rotating part required in this process, and therefore cannot be brought sufficiently close to the person to be transferred.

It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a device of the type mentioned at the outset which avoids the aforementioned disadvantages of the prior art.

The device should offer the greatest possible tipping safety, particularly when the person being transferred gets on and off the device, assuming that the person has sufficient physical strength to be able to actively participate in the transfer process. At the same time, it should be possible to adapt it quickly and easily to the respective structural conditions of the wheelchair, toilet and disabled furniture. In addition, the device should be designed to save as much space as possible. In addition, the device should be able to be moved as close as possible to furniture or sanitary facilities, e.g. a toilet, and should be able to be moved as easily and with as little effort as possible.

The object is achieved by the features of the main claim. Advantageous developments of the device according to the invention are the subject of the subclaims.

The special feature of the invention is that in the case of a device mentioned at the beginning, a substantially flat shaped, arranged outside the base part 1 and essentially wrapped around the

The invention is based on the idea of creating an improvement to known transfer devices that increases the anti-tip protection of the device and at the same time serves as a ramp-up aid for wheelchairs. The first position of the person to be transferred therefore preferably corresponds to a ramp-up point for a wheelchair.

The device proposed according to the invention offers a high level of tipping safety due to the above-mentioned drive-up function of the swivel part, particularly when the disabled person is being raised or pulled up from the wheelchair. Due to the swiveling ability of the swivel part, this tipping safety also results in different transfer situations, i.e. transfer conditions with different transfer angles. This is because the swivel part can be rotated to almost any position in order to accommodate the person to be transferred onto the swivel part. Additional support elements provided in the area of the second position, e.g. a toilet, enable the device to be tipped in this direction as well. Furthermore, the device can be easily and quickly adapted to the respective structural conditions of the wheelchair, toilet and furniture for the disabled.

The ability to pivot all of the support elements that increase the stability against tipping, including the pivoting part, also means that the entire device is highly mobile and portable, i.e. easy to move. The device can also be easily moved by one person. In particular, the entire device can be moved in a similar way to a sack barrow with correspondingly little effort.

Due to the use of the rotating part in conjunction with the swivel part, only a small amount of space is required despite the high level of tipping safety mentioned above. Even when the device is not in use, it requires as little floor space as possible.

Since the various functions of the device can be operated using only the feet, the carer has both hands free while caring for the disabled person, which also increases their sense of security. Both while the disabled person is in the device and while the person is transferring from the wheelchair (or toilet or chair) to the device, the disabled person has a firm hold that is independent of the carer. There is also no need to maneuver the device while the disabled person is on it or even to turn it.

Furthermore, the device for ensuring tipping safety includes protruding supports on a

reduced to the absolute minimum necessary and therefore do not represent a tripping hazard for nursing staff.

The device according to the invention is described below with reference to a preferred embodiment shown in the drawing, from which further features and advantages of the invention emerge. In the drawing, identical or functionally equivalent features are designated by corresponding reference numbers.

Fig. 1 shows a transfer device arranged between a wheelchair 80, indicated by dashed lines, and a toilet bowl 90, also indicated by dashed lines. This has a base plate 1 on which a turntable 2 is mounted so as to be rotatable in the plane of the paper by means of a roller bearing having rollers 44. The turntable is preferably circular in the plane of rotation (which is perpendicular to the plane of the paper), but since the shape of the turntable 2 is of little importance in this case, it can also have any other shape, for example square or polygonal.

For reasons of space, however, a round shape is preferable. On the side of the wheelchair 80, a swivel support 3 is connected to the base plate 1. The swivel support 3 has sliding elements 32 on the bottom side, which allow the swivel support 3 to slide easily perpendicular to the plane of the paper.

Above the turntable 2, there is also a handrail 16 that is firmly connected to the turntable 2 and projects approximately vertically upwards, in the upper area of which a transport lever is arranged that is pivotably attached in the plane of the paper via a hinge 51. The transport lever serves in particular to enable the transfer device to be easily moved by just one person.

To illustrate the functionality of the device shown, it is assumed that a person to be transferred, for example a physically disabled person with minimal arm and leg function, is initially sitting in the wheelchair 80 and is to be transferred from the wheelchair 80 to the toilet bowl 90 using the transfer device. It is also assumed that the swivel support, as shown in Fig. 1, has already been turned by the caregiver in the direction of the wheelchair 80. Furthermore, the turntable 2 with the handrail 16 anchored to it is turned by 180°, i.e. the transport lever 50 points in the direction of the support stick 17.

The person will first approach the device and drive the front wheels 95 of the wheelchair 80 onto the swivel support 3. The person will then attempt to pull themselves up using the handrail 16 with the strength of their arm, possibly with the help of the caregiver present, thereby exerting a tipping moment on the entire device in the direction of the wheelchair 80. This tipping moment is compensated by the pressure exerted on the swivel support 3 by the front wheels 95. The possibility of the wheelchair driving onto the swivel support 3 therefore provides additional tipping resistance for the entire device, essentially due to the weight of the person being transferred.

After the person to be transferred is standing in the device and holding on to the handrail 16, the caregiver releases the latch 9 with their foot, maintains contact with the person with their free hands and turns them using the turntable 2 until the person is in front of the toilet bowl 90. The caregiver then locks the turntable 2 again. The person to be transferred can now support themselves by changing grips, first with one hand on one of the two ball handles 61 and then with the other hand on the second ball handle, and then sit down on the toilet bowl 90.

The ball heads arranged on the support sticks 17 serve as a pivot and support bearing for the palm of the person being transferred.

Turntable 2 off-center handrail 16 creates a large free standing area 63 and a wide access option between the handrail 16 and the toilet 90.

The front view shown in Fig. 2 in the direction 'B' shown in Fig. 1 clearly shows that the support poles 17 and the handrail 16 are designed to be removable by means of release handles 37 in order to simplify the transport of the transfer device.

Fig. 3 illustrates the structure of the base plate 1. A bridge 20, 21 attached as a reinforcement for the base plate 1 is firmly connected to a support foot. Several ribs 6 act as reinforcement for the base plate 1. The ribs 6 can also be designed as an overall bent or welded construction. The ribs 6 can alternatively be fixed to one another and provided with the bridges 20, 21 as a single component. The ribs 6 accommodate - in addition to the bearing blocks 7 visible in Fig. 4 - support rollers 44 by means of which the turntable 2 is rotatably mounted on the base plate 1.

In the present example, the swivel support 3 is designed in such a way that it can be swiveled upwards as well as to the right or left (see Fig. 6a) in order to be able to adapt the device to the local conditions.

In the zero position of the swivel support, support elements 18, 21, 60 (Fig. 4) are also provided, which serve to stabilize the transfer device against tipping in this direction as well. The support element 60 also has running wheels 43, by means of which the transfer device can be moved, i.e. moved, whereby the running wheels 43 have no contact with the ground when the device is parked. They only make contact when the device is moved, i.e. when the device is tilted for this purpose.

In addition, the turntable 2 has recesses 64 on the outside radially, into which latches arranged in the region of the support elements 20, 21 engage, whereby the turntable 2 can be fixed in the direction of rotation.

In the side sectional view of the elements of the transfer device close to the ground shown in Fig. 4, it can be seen that guide elements 30 are provided between the base plate 1 and the swivel support 3, which on the one hand guide the swivel support 3 concentrically around the base plate 1 and on the other hand absorb the weight forces of the entire device and of a person sitting on it. A rib arrangement 5 additionally anchored on the swivel support 3 serves several functions, namely to mechanically stiffen the swivel support 3, as contact surfaces 55 for lateral adjustment of the swivel support (perpendicular to the plane of the paper) (see also Fig. 6a) and as a stop 56 for the front wheelchair wheels 95 (see Fig. 3).

A support rod 17 which runs approximately vertically upwards is attached to the support foot 60 and enables the transfer device to move in a manner similar to the movement of a sack barrow (see also Figures 8a and 8b). A bearing 4 6 is provided between the support foot 60 and the support rod 17, around which a pivoting arch support 18 can rotate. The wheel suspension 62 is firmly connected to the support foot 60. The radial guidance of the turntable 2 to the base plate 1 takes place via the central guide pin 26 which is firmly installed on the turntable 2 and which in turn is guided in a bearing bush 38 which is received in a central bearing housing 13. This central bearing housing 13 is firmly connected to the base plate 1.

Fig. 5 shows a locking mechanism for locking/releasing the turntable 2. The mechanism is accessible from different sides and can only be operated with one foot via a lever 11. The mechanism has in particular two independently operating bolts 9 (see Fig. 7) for locking/releasing the turntable 2. The bolts, only one of which is shown in Fig. 5, are designed as a drop bolt construction and are rotatably mounted on the bridge 20, 21. Figures 3 and 5 show the locked position. Figure 7 shows both bolts in the release position.

Fig. 6a illustrates the arrangement of the swivel support in relation to the turntable 2. The swivel support 3 is

designed to be concentrically rotatable around the base plate 1 mounted below the turntable 2.

Fig. 6b serves to illustrate the functionality of the swivel arch support 18. This is designed to be foldable and can be operated via a lever 12 using foot power (of the caregiver) and can be magnetically locked in place via magnets 42 and metal plates 25 during transport or when the transfer device is not in use. The magnets can be clearly seen in Fig. 2 in particular.

Fig. 7 shows the arrangement of the support bearing 8 and the support plate 10. These act as a stop for the turntable 2 when it is raised up as a result of a high tipping moment on the handrail 16. This slows down the turntable when it turns. The carer therefore knows that the disabled person's center of gravity is not yet within the standing area 63 and can intervene accordingly (see also Fig. 4).

Furthermore, it is clear that the handrail 16 rotates with the turntable 2, so that the disabled person is permanently provided with a firm hold even during the rotation.

Finally, Fig. 8a and 8b show the transport of the device following the principle of a "wheelbarrow" (Fig. 8a) or the principle of a "sack barrow", namely by means of the wheels 43.

The support stick also has several functions: on the one hand, it serves as a stop for furniture for disabled people, such as a bed. It also serves as a support for the person being transferred when standing up and sitting down. It also serves as a lifting element for transporting the transfer device in the manner of a sack barrow.

Claims (27)

1. Device for moving a person from a first position into at least a second position with a base part ( 1 ) arranged on the floor and a rotating part ( 2 ) rotatably attached to the base part ( 1 ) with at least one first holding part ( 16 ) arranged substantially perpendicular to the rotating part ( 2 ) for temporarily holding the person, characterized by an at least one-piece pivoting part ( 3 ) which is substantially flat, arranged outside the base part ( 1 ) and pivotable substantially about the base part ( 1 ). 2. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the pivoting part ( 3 ) is rotatably mounted on the base part ( 1 ). 3. Device according to claim 2, characterized in that the pivoting part ( 3 ) is mounted concentrically to the base part ( 1 ) so that it can rotate. 4. Device according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the at least one pivoting part ( 3 ) is mounted so as to be rotatable essentially concentrically with the rotating part ( 2 ). 5. Device according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the rotating part ( 2 ) has a central guide pin ( 26 ) which engages in a force-fitting manner in a bearing bush ( 38 ) which is received in a bearing housing ( 13 ) connected to the base part ( 1 ). 6. Device according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized by guide elements ( 30 ) arranged between the base part ( 1 ) and the rotating part ( 2 ) for the preferably concentric guidance of the pivoting part ( 3 ). 7. Device according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the pivoting part ( 3 ) has a rib construction ( 5 ) anchored thereto. 8. Device according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the pivoting part ( 3 ) is designed to be lockable in the pivoting direction on the base part ( 1 ). 9. Device according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the pivoting part ( 3 ) is formed in at least two parts. 10. Device according to claim 9, characterized in that the at least two parts of the pivoting part ( 3 ) are designed to pivot independently of one another or simultaneously. 11. Device according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized by sliding elements ( 32 ) arranged on the bottom side of the at least one pivoting part ( 3 ). 12. Device according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the first holding part ( 16 ) is connected to the rotating part ( 2 ) in a rotationally fixed manner. 13. Device according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the first holding part ( 16 ) is arranged off-center with respect to the axis of rotation of the rotating part ( 2 ). 14. Device according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized by a transport lever ( 50 ) pivotably arranged on the first holding part ( 16 ). 15. Device according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the at least one pivoting part ( 3 ) is arranged in an angular range of the first position and in an angular range of the second position at least one support element ( 60 ) arranged in the outer region of the base part ( 1 ) is provided. 16. Device according to claim 15, characterized by at least one pivoting arch support ( 18 ) designed to be pivotable by means of a bearing ( 46 ). 17. Device according to claim 16, characterized in that the support element ( 60 ) has a lever arm ( 12 ) arranged essentially outwardly and is designed to be magnetically lockable ( 25 , 42 ) with the base part ( 1 ). 18. Device according to one or more of claims 15 to 17, characterized in that at least one second holding part ( 17 ) arranged substantially perpendicular to the rotating part ( 2 ) is provided above the support element ( 60 ). 19. Device according to claim 18, characterized in that the second holding part ( 17 ) is designed in the form of a support stick and has a ball button ( 61 ) at its free end. 20. Device according to one or more of claims 15 to 19, characterized in that at least one transport wheel ( 43 ) is arranged in the region of the support element ( 60 ). 21. Device according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the first holding part ( 16 ) and/or the second holding part ( 17 ) is designed to be removable by means of release handles ( 37 ). 22. Device according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the rotating part ( 2 ) is mounted on the base part ( 1 ) by at least three support rollers ( 44 ) which can roll in the direction of rotation of the rotating part ( 2 ). 23. Device according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the rotating part ( 2 ) can be locked in the direction of rotation by means of a locking mechanism ( 9 , 64 ). 24. Device according to claim 23, characterized by at least one locking element ( 9 ) arranged in the radially outer region of the rotary part ( 2 ) and engageable in recesses ( 64 ) arranged on the radial outer side of the rotary part ( 2 ). 25. Device according to claim 24, characterized in that the locking element ( 9 ) is designed as a latch bolt. 26. Device according to claim 24 or 25, characterized in that the at least one locking element ( 9 ) is held on at least one bridge element ( 20 , 21 ). 27. Device according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized by a support bearing ( 8 ) and support plate ( 10 ) acting as a stop for the rotating part ( 2 ).
