Die bekanntgewordenen, faltenlegenden Gardinenbänder mit abwechselnd versteiften und nicht versteiften Feldern haben den Nachteil, daß das Festlegen der Falten zu zeitraubend und das Berechnen der benötigten Gardinenstoffbreite zu umständlich ist. Hierdurch bekommt die gefaltete Gardine eine Breite, die ein Vielfaches der gewählten Einzelabstände in der Schnur ausmacht, also größere Stufen, je breiter die Gardine ist. Da das Festlegen der Falten vor dem Aufbringen der Tragglieder auf die Schiene erfolgen muß und nachher nicht mehr korrigiert werden kann, ist vorher eine genaue Berechnung notwendig, die jedoch bei gegebener Fensterbreite, Breite der Gardine als ein Vielfaches des gewählten Einzelabstandes und Stoffbreite der Gardinen-Meterware, nicht in jedem Fall aufgeht. Man hat die Berechnung vereinfacht, indem man den Verkäuferinnen Tabellen gab. Da die Rechnung aber nicht immer aufgeht, ist ein Verschnitt nicht zu vermeiden.
