Abstract
Un método de extracción de cobre a partir de una mena mineral de sulfuro que incluye las etapas de apilar la mena para formar una pila, en una etapa de lixiviación, regar la pila con una primera solución de riego que contenga una solución de nitrato ácido y nitrito para provocar así la oxidación de los minerales de sulfuro dentro de la pila, oxidar el gas de óxido nítrico liberado durante la oxidación de los minerales de sulfuro dentro de la pila mediante oxígeno para formar dióxido de nitrógeno, e hidrolizar el dióxido de nitrógeno para formar ácido nítrico y/o ácido nitroso en la primera solución de irrigación dentro de la pila, para continuar la etapa de lixiviación y reducir la pérdida de óxido nítrico de la pila.
