Abstract
Un metodo para extraer cobre de un mineral de sulfuro que incluye los pasos de apilar el mineral para formar una pila, en un paso de lixiviacion, irrigar la pila con una primera solucion de irrigacion que contiene una solucion acida de nitrato y nitrito para provocar de ese modo la oxidacion de minerales de sulfuro dentro de la pila, oxidar el gas de oxido nitrico liberado durante la oxidacion de los minerales de sulfuro dentro de la pila por el oxigeno para formar dioxido de nitrogeno, e hidrolizar el dioxido de nitrogeno para formar acido nitrico y/o acido nitroso en la primera solucion de irrigacion dentro de la pila, para continuar con el paso de lixiviacion y reducir la perdida de oxido nitrico de la pila.
