Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a composiciones y métodos para modificar genes NAC7 en plantas, opcionalmente con el fin de mejorar rasgos de rendimiento. La invención además se refiere a plantas que tienen una arquitectura de planta mejorada y/o rasgos de rendimiento mejorados producidas usando los métodos y composiciones de la invención. Reivindicación 16: La planta o parte de la misma de cualquiera de las reivindicaciones precedentes, en donde la planta que comprende la por lo menos única mutación exhibe un mayor número de flores, mayor tamaño de las estructuras florales y/o mayor longitud de mazorcas en comparación con una planta de control libre de la por lo menos única mutación. Reivindicación 22: Una célula vegetal, que comprende un sistema de edición, el sistema de edición comprende: (a) una proteína efectora CRISPR-Cas; y (b) un ácido nucleico guía que comprende una secuencia espaciadora con complementariedad con un gen diana endógeno que codifica un polipéptido del factor de transcripción que contiene el dominio NAC7 en la célula vegetal. Reivindicación 48: El método de cualquiera de las reivindicaciones 45 - 47, en donde poner en contacto la región del gen NAC7 endógeno en la célula vegetal con el sistema de edición produce una célula vegetal que comprende en su genoma un gen NAC7 endógeno editado, el método además comprende (a) regenerar una planta a partir de la célula vegetal; (b) autopolinizar la planta para producir las plantas de progenie (E1); (c) someter las plantas de la progenie de (b) a un ensayo para determinar un mayor número de flores, mayor tamaño de las estructuras florales y/o mayor longitud de mazorcas; y (d) seleccionar las plantas de la progenie que exhiben mayor número de flores, mayor tamaño de las estructuras florales y/o mayor longitud de mazorcas para producir plantas de la progenie seleccionadas que exhiben un mayor número de flores, mayor tamaño de las estructuras florales y/o mayor longitud de mazorcas en comparación con una planta de control. Reivindicación 90: Un ácido nucleico guía que se une a un ácido nucleico diana en un gen NAC7 que tiene un número de identificación de gen (ID de gen) de GRMZM2G114850.
