Abstract
Despolimerización de polímeros y recuperación de los materiales de partida usados para la producción del polímero. También se describen la despolimeración de tereftalato de polietileno (PET) y la recuperación de ácido tereftálico y etilenglicol. Reivindicación 1: Un proceso para despolimerizar un polímero que comprende una funcionalidad éster para obtener los correspondientes componentes de alcohol y ácido carboxílico para utilizarlos en la producción de nuevos polímeros, caracterizado porque comprende mezclar el polímero con una mezcla de: (i) un solvente no polar para hinchar el polímero; y (ii) un agente para escindir la funcionalidad éster que consiste en una mezcla de un alcohol y un hidróxido; donde se continúa mezclando durante un tiempo suficiente para despolimerizar por lo menos una porción del polímero para obtener los correspondientes componentes de alcohol y ácido carboxílico; y donde el proceso se lleva a cabo sin aplicar calor externo.
